The Management Committee and members of the AJS-QLD extend a very warm welcome to the newly appointed Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane, Mr ISHIKAWA Katsutoshi (pictured above) who began his term in Brisbane this month.
We look forward to working together with Mr ISHIKAWA and staff of the Consulate-General of Japan in the New Year.
FAREWELL
In November we farewelled Mr GOMAKUBO Junji, Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane since April 2023. We wish him well for his future posting and thank him for his contribution to the Queensland Japan community, the strengthening of bilateral relations, his initiatives, enthusiasm, friendship and support of the Society.

As the year draws to a close it’s a good time to reflect on the Society’s activities and accomplishments in 2024 and to thank all those members and friends who supported and attended AJS-QLD events over the past year.
As membership continues to grow your ongoing support not only contributes to the work of the Society but also to broaden bilateral relations between Australia and Japan.
The relationship between Australia and Japan has never been more important as our economic, defence and trade interests become increasingly aligned and an increasing number of Australians travel to Japan for holidays and business.
On behalf of the Management Committee I would like to thank you all for contributing to the Society and the Australia Japan relationship. We wish you all a very safe, happy and festive season.
よいお年をお迎えください。
David Shield
President – Australia Japan Society Queensland
