In August the Society jointly hosted its annual Careers Evening with the Consulate-General of Japan in Brisbane as part of Japan Month 2024. Once again ‘in-person’ attendee tickets sold out and more than 60 participants registered online for this popular event, demonstrating a continued strong interest in Japan related careers.
HANAI Ikuko Deputy Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane opened the event and addressed the participants before MC, Nicole Patterson of the AJS-QLD Committee, introduced this year’s speakers.
They included, Julie Yamamoto AJS-QLD Vice-President who spoke about her career in Australia and Japan , Elysha-Rei paper cutting artist, Lawson Dibb from Linkd Tourism and David Shield AJS-QLD President who shared his experience as a language professional. Shannon Whiley from the Consulate-General of Japan also spoke to attendees about the JET Program.
The evening concluded with the ever popular Q & A with ‘in person’ and online participants being able to engage directly with the speakers.
