The Society was delighted to participate in this year’s Japan Day at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, a major event in the Consulate-General of Japan’s Japan Month celebrations.
AJS President and talented Koto musician David Shield donated his time performing throughout the day. Attendance at the event continues to grow thanks to the work of the Consulate-General of Japan in Brisbane and the event organiser Tomoko White sensei. It was a great day out for anybody interested in the classical arts of Japan and featured flower arranging demonstrations, tea ceremony, calligraphy, koto music and bonsai demonstrations.
The level of interest in Japan and Japanese culture was reflected in the high number of attendees and participation on the day. If you missed out this year mark your calendars for another great event in 2025.
