Each month throughout 2020 the AJS-Q is celebrating the Sister City anniversary by highlighting aspects of Kobe.
This month we’re looking at the Nunobiki Herb Garden on Mount Rokko – one of the most beautiful places to visit in Kobe. Accessed by ropeway, this garden offers a stunning view of the city.
Situated between the green of the mountains and the blue of the sea, Kobe is a city of contrasts.
And there is no better way to appreciate this than via the panoramic views from the Nunobiki Ropeway and Herb Gardens.
With the lower station and starting point for the ropeway conveniently located just a few minutes walk from Shin Kobe Station, it is the perfect activity for visitors to the city, even those with only a few hours to spare.
Ten minutes is all it takes to be transported from the city to the top of the mountain through a canopy of lush foliage that changes with the seasons.
Upon arrival visitors can enjoy the views, dine at the cafe, wander through the glasshouses and rose and herb gardens or access a number of hiking trails that the crisscross the mountain.
While most visitors take the ropeway back to the lower station some enjoy the energetic hike back down the mountain towards the city.
