ICHIBA
There are so many great Asian supermarkets in southeast Queensland. I can certainly find many of the products I need for cooking Japanese cuisine. However, I was extra excited to discover ICHIBA in late 2022. It is located in the Warrigal Square Shopping Centre which is on the border of Underwood and Eight Mile Plains. The same location was previously a Sushi Train restaurant.
ICHIBA may not be as large as the Asian supermarkets in neighbouring suburbs, but it has a great range of Japanese products, and stocks several products that I can’t find anywhere else. My favourite product is the range of frozen Mont Blanc premium sweets from Japan – they were always my favourite when I lived there!
The store is so authentic and also has a delicious range of hand-made onigiris and Japanese-style sandwiches.
They are made fresh onsite, but they do sell out quickly. My husband is there at least twice a week to stock up on onigiris – my son loves them.
The store also has a great range of Japanese sake and wines – probably the best range I have seen here in Queensland.
The staff are welcoming, and the service is great.
