35th Anniversary of Brisbane Kobe Sister City Relationship in 2020

2020 marks the 35th anniversary of the the Brisbane Kobe Sister City relationship.

Established in 1985 during the term of Dr Sallyanne Atkinson AO, the then Lord Mayor of Brisbane, it is Brisbane’s oldest Sister City relationship.

AJS-Q End of Year Event & Presentation of Dr Fujiko Chamberlain (OAM) Education Award

Members and guests recently gathered for the the presentation of the Dr Fujiko Chamberlain (OAM) Education Award  at the Society’s End of Year Event in November.

This Award, for achievement in Japanese language studies, commemorates longstanding member of the AJS-Q, Dr Fujiko Chamberlain (OAM) and her commitment to education and Australia Japan relations.

It commenced in 2017 and is presented to a student from Griffith University and student from the University of Queensland annually.

Dr Theodore Chamberlain presented the recipients for 2019, Shaun Dillon from Griffith University and Andrew Dunlop from the University of Queensland, with a certificate and $100 from the AJS-Q.
