Event Report – Nara Treaty Celebration

The Australia Japan Society – Queensland (AJS – QLD) was honoured to attend the Gala Dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan (NARA Treaty), held at The Great Hall, Parliament House in Canberra on Tuesday 30 June 2026.

The event brought together more than 600 representatives from government, the corporate sector, academia, cultural groups and grassroots relationships who have contributed to this extraordinary partnership over the past 50 years.

Thank you to the National Federation of Australia Japan Societies (NFAJS), the Australia Japan Business Cooperation Committee (AJBCC) and Gala Dinner Steering Committee for realising the vision and hosting such a magnificent event.
