Queensland Japan Sports Diplomacy Initiative
The Australia-Japan Society (Queensland), Inc. is proud to host the Queensland Japan Sports Diplomacy Initiative Launch at the Brisbane office of Clayton Utz on the evening of Wednesday 13 September.
Financial members of the AJSQ are invited to attend this event at no cost.
Japan and Queensland have shared strong diplomatic and trade relations for more than seven decades. The cultural and people-to-people linkages have provided the building blocks for a trusted relationship between our two regions. Queensland and Japanese athletes have long travelled to each other’s shores to compete in an array of sporting events. The athletes, whether they be professional or amateur have added another layer to the relationship. The concept of sports diplomacy has received greater traction in recent years but one that has significant potential to further deepen the ties between our two regions.
The event on 13 September will include a panel of Olympic, Baseball and Rugby Union representatives. It will be a great evening of networking and exploring the concept of sports diplomacy.
With the hosting of the 2032 Olympic Games in Queensland, and the Rugby World Cup in 2027, opportunities for sporting exchanges between Queensland and Japan will increase.
The AJSQ Sports Diplomacy initiative will provide a spotlight on the role of sports in deepening the ties between our two regions.
