Kore-eda’s Shoplifters Wins Best Feature Film

Kore-eda Hirokazu’s Shoplifters (Manbiki Kazoku) was named Best Feature Film at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) The Award was accepted by producer Taguchi Hijiri at the glittering APSA ceremony in Brisbane, Australia.

This is Kore-eda’s first APSA win and the first time a film from Japan has won the APSA for Best Feature Film. The film is Japan’s official submission for the Oscars®.

In a spread of awards representing the geographical and cultural diversity of the Asia Pacific region, awards went to films from Australia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Singapore and Turkey.
