An Evening of Koto, Shamisen and the Evolution of Japanese Music

We are delighted to present the second in the AJS-Q Webinar Series on Japanese culture.

Our guest for May will be Ms Ikoujyu Tanno, a leading instructor of the Yamada School of Koto music.

(The webinar will include an overview, Q and A and a short performance)

The daughter of the famed Isejyu Tanno who was a student of the famous Miyagi sensei, Ms Tanno has studied with some of the greats of the performing arts world.

An accredited Koto instructor with the Yamada school of Koto Ms Tanno has performed throughout the world including Europe, China and Australia.

She sits on the board of the Imai branch of the Yamada school and is a member of the Japanese Sankyoku Association, the governing body of traditional music.

Also a keen historian, Ms Tanno works tirelessly to promote Japanese instruments to new audiences and to preserve the soul of Japanese music for future generations.
