The 31st Ship for World Youth visited Brisbane on 15 February, commemorating 150 years since the Iwakura Mission of the Meiji period.

The Ship for World Youth Program is an initiative of the Government of Japan in which young delegates participate in cross-cultural exchange and develop skills as the next generation of global leaders.

This delegation included representatives from Australia, Chile, Ecuador, Greece, Solomon Islands, Sweden, Tanzania, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Vanuatu and Japan.

The M. S. Nippon Maru will also visit Darwin, The Solomon Islands and the Republic of Palau.
